E29 Arçelik washing machine E29 error: voltage out of range

What it means

According to Arçelik, error E29 means the operating voltage is outside the allowed limits: the mains voltage is too low or too high, and the machine has stopped to protect its electronics.

The error often clears by itself once the voltage is back to normal. If it stays, the cause may be the socket, an extension lead or the machine itself.

Likely causes

Possible causes:

• a voltage drop or surge in the mains (for example, when several powerful appliances are on at once);
• the machine is plugged in through an extension lead or adaptor;
• a poor contact in the socket or plug;
• less often, a faulty control board or power supply in the machine.

Safe steps you can try

1. Cancel the current programme: turn the programme selector to a different programme — this is what Arçelik advises (see "Cancelling the programme" in the manual).
2. Wait: once the voltage is back to normal, the error may clear by itself.
3. Plug the machine straight into a wall socket, without an extension lead or adaptor.
4. Check whether the lights flicker or other appliances misbehave — a sign of a voltage problem in the house.
5. Start the programme again.

When to call a technician

If E29 does not clear after cancelling the programme, Arçelik advises contacting service. If voltage fluctuations in your home are frequent, also ask an electrician about installing a voltage stabiliser.

The technician will check the machine's power supply, the control board and the wiring and fix the fault.
